The Dangers of Nightlife?

June 10th, 2008

Man hurt at nightclub released from Hamot
A man struck at the Cellblock nightclub early Saturday by an unintentional punch was released from Hamot Medical Center on Monday. Scott Gordon, no age available, had been in a medically induced coma because of his injuries, Erie police said.  Yikes!  Enough to make a sane person decide to stay in each evening.

Police said Gordon and a friend, both from Harrisville, were at the Cellblock, 1213 State St., when his friend tried to punch someone else and accidentally struck Gordon instead.  Police said Gordon fell from the force of the blow, striking his head on the cement floor.  Gordon is lucky that he injuries were not more severe.

Obama Declared Democratic Candidate

June 3rd, 2008

Today it was announced that Senator Obama has now secured enough delegates to win his the Democratic National candidacy.  Senator Clinton, who has been running in opposition (and once considered the front runner candidate), says she will continue to campaign to gain negotiation power over certain issues during the convention.  Rumors are flying that she’s looking to pressure Obama into asking her to be his Vice Presidential running mate.

Whether Clinton really has such plans is yet to be seen.  However, for now the nation is soaking in this historic event wherein a person of color has been nominated to be the presidential candidate of one of the major parties.
