It seems that Thanksgiving holiday plans are already taking place in our home even though it’s only mid October. I guess that’s because making travel plans and arrangements for pets can get kind of crazy if you wait until too close to the actual holiday. Sometime we have Thanksgiving at my sister’s house and sometimes we have it at mine, rotating every year or so. No matter where we decide to have the meal, everyone tries to do their share of the cooking and baking so no one is carrying the whole burden of the meal. When you have something like this Pyrex Portable 9 Piece Double Decker Bakeware Set makes taking meals and desserts on the road so much easier.

This complete nine piece portable Pyrex baking set is a convenient way to take your goodies to go! It includes a large oblong dish, two rectangular dishes – all with matching lids. Plus there are two hot/cold packs and a sturdy nylon carrier. You can’t beat the versatility of Pyrex – easy to cook in, store food in, and microwave in. Plus you can just toss the dishes into the dishwasher for clean-up when you’re done.

Recipes for split pea soup are all quite unique. Everyone has their own opinion of what this soup should contain, and how it should taste. The thing I like about this particular crock pot split pea soup is the classic ingredients. In my book, split pea soup needs to be garlicky, with lots of onion and ham. Crock pot split pea soup has one additional benefit; you don’t have to watch it so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot. That is something with a stove top version that I’ve always battled.

I prefer to make most crockpot recipes on school days so the kids are out of the house while the meal is cooking. It’s especially important with split pea soup because the aroma of split pea soup will take over the house and by the time it’s dinnertime, we’ve all sort of lost our taste for it. You know how that is, after you’ve smelled something cooking all day? That’s why I love my crockpot. I put something in, run errands or go to work, come back and enjoy the aroma for the first time that day.
