A Family-Size Oster Nonstick Electric Skillet
May 28th, 2009I love our family weekend mornings. They get off to such a nice slow start after running around during the week. Well, that is as long as no one has an early soccer or baseball game to get to. One of my favorite part of the weekend morning routines is sitting down to a big family breakfast. Dad will usually make up a batch of bacon and eggs along with some hashbrown potatoes or maybe some French toast with sausage. I get hungry just thinking about it now. Some of the frying can get a little messy, but I notice that it’s been much better since we bought the Oster Large Nonstick Electric Skillet. Read the rest of this entry »

Using a Whole House Filter Saves Clothing Expenses
April 7th, 2009Wow. We didn’t realize how valuable a whole house filter was until we got ours. Our dark clothes were constantly getting washed out color just after a few washes. That’s awfully expensive when your buying top end golf shirts. But who wants to take their golf shirts to the dry cleaner And quite frankly who can afford that kind of expense in today’s economy. We had always had a slight chlorine taste in our water. I guess most municipal supplies have that taste as they all use chlorine as a disinfectant. Read the rest of this entry »

Classic Split Pea Soup Is Perfect For A Dreary Day
December 18th, 2008Recipes for split pea soup are all quite unique. Everyone has their own opinion of what this soup should contain, and how it should taste. The thing I like about this particular crock pot split pea soup is the classic ingredients. In my book, split pea soup needs to be garlicky, with lots of onion and ham. Crock pot split pea soup has one additional benefit; you don’t have to watch it so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot. That is something with a stove top version that I’ve always battled. A Different Kind of Collar
October 4th, 2008Spiffy Dog’s Air Collar is incredibly unique, made from a fast drying, light weight nylon fabric. Known in the industry as Aerospacer, the fiber was originally designed to use on the inside of sport and hiking shoes because of its breathing and wicking abilities as well as its durability. It is constructed with small chambers of air on the interior of the outer collar wall. The nylon fabric of these dog collars is perfect for dogs that love to spend time in and around the water since the collars dry so fast. They are also anti-microbial, odor resistant and won’t promote the growth of mildew. Dogs that have longer fur won’t be bothered if the collar moves, since it doesn’t pull hair or chafe like some leather and webbing collars are apt to do. This is great for our dog buddies with allergies and skin sensitivities. The collar is designed to be super strong and has a heavy duty, quick release clip. Spiffy collars are soft and adjustable and are available in over 23 patterns and two width sizes.
Make Your Life Easy With an Under Counter Water Filter!
September 17th, 2008Make Your Life Easy With an Under Counter Water Filter!
We decided on a under counter water filter a few weeks ago and settled on the Aquasana AQ-4500. This unit comes with a faucet and can be mounted under the sink in most kitchens. The unit is approved by Underwriters Laboratory, California Department of Health and has won Consumer Digest’s “Best Buy” many years in a row. Sounded good to us! We have a small baby and have been concerned about water quality for ourselves and her. Read the rest of this entry »
The Outdoor Juniper Bonsai Tree – For the Beginner Bonsai Hobbyist
September 16th, 2008I’ve often been asked to help people choose a good first Bonsai tree and without exception I will point them to a Juniper bonsai tree – specifically Juniper procumbens. There are many good reasons to support that choice, not the least of which is an excellent degree of cold hardiness. This is important, particularly for the beginner since it means that their Juniper will have a better chance of surviving a cold winter given perhaps a less than a professional level of attention. Why I Will Vote for Barack Obama for President
July 14th, 2008Senator Barack Obama has a vision and a goal to lead our country in the right direction. Come November I will indeed cast my vote to make him President of the United States.
Not only is he a spiritual inspiration, he is also poised to be strong and no nonsense leader. He has what it takes to bring all Americans together for the good of the nation. Obama is not running to be “The President of Black America”; he is running to be President for ALL in the United States.
With Senator Obama as President, our great nation will regain its position as global leader and will once again be respected as such. He will have a long road ahead of him in undoing all the damage the Bush Administration has done to our country. He has the better plan for our economy and his stance on the war in Iraq is to be admired. The bottom line is that Barack Obama is simply the best candidate for the job in Election 2008.
Will Smith for Vice President?
June 24th, 2008Will Smith’s support for Senator Obama as a presidential candidate is public record. Will says he’ll do whatever is asked of him to help Obama to get elected. Does that include running as the VP candidate? In a joking manner Will said yes, he’d be VP if that is what it took to get Obama elected.
Mr. Smith says he embraces the message that Obama projects. He also feels that if Obama becomes president foreign relations with other countries will improve.
Will has a new movie coming out shortly - Hancock. Sure to be another winner as Will’s blend of sincerity and professionalism always seems to shine through any character he plays.
The Dangers of Nightlife?

A man struck at the Cellblock nightclub early Saturday by an unintentional punch was released from Hamot Medical Center on Monday. Scott Gordon, no age available, had been in a medically induced coma because of his injuries, Erie police said. Yikes! Enough to make a sane person decide to stay in each evening.

Police said Gordon fell from the force of the blow, striking his head on the cement floor. Gordon is lucky that he injuries were not more severe.
Obama Declared Democratic Candidate
June 3rd, 2008Today it was announced that Senator Obama has now secured enough delegates to win his the Democratic National candidacy. Senator Clinton, who has been running in opposition (and once considered the front runner candidate), says she will continue to campaign to gain negotiation power over certain issues during the convention. Rumors are flying that she’s looking to pressure Obama into asking her to be his Vice Presidential running mate.
Whether Clinton really has such plans is yet to be seen. However, for now the nation is soaking in this historic event wherein a person of color has been nominated to be the presidential candidate of one of the major parties.
